The Yukon Territorial Heritage Fair/Fête du patrimoine (formerly known as the Yukon Territorial Historica Fair) will take place on Thursday May 6, 2010 in Whitehorse. The Heritage Fairs Program is meant to support curriculum for grades 4-9 and subjects can be integrated while working on research projects. Projects can be in English or French. "The Heritage Fairs program encourages students to explore Canadian heritage in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment. Students use the medium of their choice to tell stories about Canadian heroes, legends, milestones, and achievements - and present the results of their research at a public exhibition. Across Canada in the last school year: Across Canada in the last school year: * more than 150,000 students worked on projects or participated in a Fair * communities representing all provinces and territories were involved * 1,500 schools hosted Fairs or participated in a Community or Regional Fair * 1,500 schools hosted Fairs or participated in a Community or Regional Fair * 10,000 volunteers were involved in helping to deliver the program The result is a community-based celebration of Canadian heritage that has a lasting impact on participants.
