The organizers of the Young Authors Conference are teachers from Whitehorse-based schools.

The original organizers were librarians from various schools, including Terry Burns, Irma Bourassa, Marg Healy, Marion Noone, Val Ross and Marg Wicken.

Terry Burns was the Conference’s over-all organizer for ten years. Joyce Sward, an English teacher at FH Collins, has been the main organizer for the last 20 years.

Funding for the Yukon Writers’ Festival comes from the Department of Education, Public Libraries, The Canada Council, The Writers’ Union of Canada, Yukon Science Institute, Macs Fireweed Books,JAM ( Junction Arts and Music ), Yukon News, Playwrights Guild of Canada, Yukon Arts Branch and from Whitehorse Westmark.

As well, Mac’s Book Store sells books at the public readings during the Festival and the Young Authors Conference receives support from the administration of FH Collins School that allows organizers the use of equipment and facilities.
