Curriculum Resource Materials

NorthWind Books

The NorthWind Books are developed to be used as part of a guided reading program and provide reading material that reflects the life and experiences of Yukon First Nations people. This project is ongoing, as more books are currently being developed. Over time all the NorthWind Books will be translated into French and into Yukon First Nations languages. NorthWind Books are developed collaboratively with the NorthWind Books Working Group. The working group is composed of classroom teachers and an Elder, with technical support from the department's coordinator of Primary Programs and the FNPP Cultural Inclusion Consultant. A Teachers' Guide, which is also available, includes reading activities, cultural connections and cross-curricular links.
