Trapdoor spiders can be be found in Africa, Australia, California, Europe, Japan, North and South America. It lives in a burrow and its door is tight fitting. This spider’s door is lined with silk.


Physical Description

This spider is 10 cm long and it is 2.1cm wide. The Trapdoor spider has 8 legs, 4 eyes, 2 fangs and 2 body parts. The color of the spider is brown. It lives up to 1-2 years.

The Young


The females lay eggs and the babies hatch from the eggs. Spiderlings are very small.


Food

The Trapdoor spider eats beetles, ants, baby lizards, baby birds, small fish and mice. They also eat grasshoppers, baby snakes and frogs.


Enemies

The enemies of a Trapdoor spider are wasps, scorpion and people.
