Welcome to our school website.
If you are interested in all things Yukon you have certainly come to the right place. We are the largest website on the planet dealing exclusively with Yukon history. We have hundreds of full size historical photos as well as tons of historical text. Our site is multi-layered, so don't be afraid to explore. We are continually adding new features and content to our site so check back often. We have tried to make our site both entertaining and informative.
Ghùch Tlâ Community School is located in the community of Carcross, which is situated in the Southern Lakes region of Yukon, about a 45-minute drive from Whitehorse. Our school population tends to fluctuate sligtly; right now we have 58 students in full time attendance. The majority of ourstudents (92%) are Carcross/Tagish First Nation and come from the community of Carcross and the surrounding area. Our teaching staff consists of seven teachers (including two Native Language teachers), two educational assistants. one remedial tutor, and a part time librarian.
The scenery in Carcross is often compared to Switzerland, in fact we are sometimes referred to as "little Switzerland." For such a small school we continually strive to not only have BIG ideas, but to make those ideas happen!! |
