Challenge Day is a  powerful, high-energy day in which youth and adult participants ar guided through a series of experiential learning processes. The overall goals of the programme are to increase personal power and self esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. Our Challenge Days involve training senior students as mentors to participate with the grade 8’s who attend every fall. This is our kick-off to Being the Change at school for the rest of the year. The mentors and the Be the Change team remain an available support to the grade 8’s and organise activities throughout the year for the whole school to reaffirm the ideas and challenges students have put out to each other. Some challenges students have made to each other this year are:

Include everyone
Stand up to bullying
Give compliments, not put downs
Don’t judge people on rumours or second hand information
Interrupt hurtful jokes
Accept people regardless of their sexual orientation
