PCSS School Council Scholarships

The purpose of the scholarship is to give financial assistance to a student who has graduated from Porter Creek Secondary School and who is beginning undergraduate studies in a full-time post-secondary program.

The scholarship is advertised annually during the spring semester, and awarded the following autumn.

Criteria:
Eligibility criteria are based on a student’s declaration of need and their contribution to the PCSS community.

Procedure:
Students complete a  written application for this award.  A letter of acceptance from the post secondary institution must also be attached to the application.

Scholarship Award:
The recipient is determined by School Council, based on the details provided in the application form.

Award Amount:
The awards are $500.00 each.

 

Porter Creek Secondary School Council

About Porter Creek Secondary School Council

The Porter Creek Secondary School Council represents the communities' views and needs. It meets monthly as per the school calendar and is open to any adult community member living in the PCSS catchment area. In general terms, the functions of the Council are as follows:

  1. To review and discuss school policies, facilities, programs, and procedures.
  2. To provide a forum for community members to learn and make inquiries about processes and procedures affecting their children.
  3. To help create a sense of community within our school neighbourhood so that co-operatively a voice is provided about community attitudes and needs as they relate to the school.

Meetings are open to any member of the public. Students are also welcome to attend meetings.

Individuals wishing to participate as a member of the PCSS School council must satisfy the following criteria:

1. Canadian citizenship

2. be 18 years of age or older;

3. a) a resident in the attendance area of the school for at least 3 months,

   OR;

   b) a parent of a child attending the school
