нннн One day in a Haida village, the chief's son Squwally was preparing for a hunting trip with his father. The next day when they were out in the woods they came to a split path.
ннн "You go one way and I'll go the other." said Squwally.
нннн "All right, but remember not to go to the Forbidden Forest and meet me back here at sun down." said his father.
нннн "All right." said Squwally and off they went in different directions, but Squwally had other things in mind. You see Squwally's father was very hard to keep up with because he was good at everything, so Squwally lied to his father so he could go hunt the Great Cougar that lived in the Forbidden Forest.
нннн Squwally didn't meet his father and so his father went back to the village and ordered everyone to search for Squwally. Meanwhile in the Forbidden Forest, Squwally was having a swell time until he heard a rustle in the bushes and a howl and he knew that he had found the Great Cougar or did he find him he wondered.
нннн There was no time to wonder, he drew his spear and aimed and before he threw it, the Great Cougar jumped on Squwally and knocked the spear out of his hands and said, "Foolish boy, nobody has ever come close enough to catch me and yet you are the only one who got close enough to see me and for your bravery, instead of banishing you to the Land of Souls I will transform you into a cougar."
нннн With Great Cougar's magic Squwally was transformed into a cougar and never saw his family again.
