Haida Legend How The Deer Got His Spots Written and Illustrated by Eva, Grade 4 IT ÝÝÝÝÝ Once upon a time there was a Haida boy named Tushii. He was walking in the woods with his dog when suddenly he saw a bush moving. He thought it was the dog, but he noticed the dog was right beside him. So he went to see what was in the bush. Then he heard his dog growl. He looked in the bush and saw a deer. He took him home and called him Maiou, but when Tushii turned around he saw the deer didn't have any spots. So instead of calling him Maiou, Tushii called him Luca.
    Tushii didn't like Luca without any spots so he went back to his house asked his mother to take him to the medicine man because Luca did not have any spots. His mother took them to the medicine man. The medicine man said, ''He does not have any spots because he is just a baby." So they took him home and gave him some food. Tushii went outside to play with his friends, but when he went inside he had a terrible fever. Luca was confused because Tushii was feeling sick.
ÝÝÝ After awhile Tushii's mother went to check on him and gave him  some medicine that would make him feel better. Then he went to  bed, but then his mother forgot to put away the medicine so Luca wouldn't touch it. Tushii's mother heard a sound from the kitchen. She went in the kitchen and saw Luca drinking the medicine.
    She thought it was a dream so she went back to bed, but before Tushii's mother could do that Luca was making some weird noises and Luca had spots. When Tushii saw that Luca now had spots, he started to feel better. That is how Deer got his spots.
