Haida Legend How The Flying Squirrel Learned To Fly Written and Illustrated by Jason, Grade 4 IT Ý Ý ÝÝÝÝ A long time ago, the flying squirrel didn't know how to fly. All the other squirrels laughed at him.
ÝÝÝÝ They said, "Hey fly-less, want to fly?''
ÝÝÝÝ "Yes!"Ý said the squirrel.
ÝÝÝÝ ''Well you can't!''
ÝÝÝÝ One day he said to himself, ''I'm going to learn to fly.''
ÝÝÝÝ So he went and climbed a tree.Ý He jumped and hit the ground with a big crash!
ÝÝÝ The other squirrels laughed.
ÝÝÝ The next day he went to the same tree.Ý He climbed up and he jumped again.Ý Practice seemed to have helped him because all of a sudden he was flying.
ÝÝÝÝ "I'm flying!" he screamed.Ý All the other squirrels said, "What?"
