Hi! We are a 5th grade class from LaGrange, Illinois. We are located about 20 miles directly west of Chicago, Illinois. We go to LaGrange Highlands Elementary School (K-5). We have about 600 students in our school and about 300 students in our Middle School (6-8). We are in a special program called P.A.L. (Program for Accelerated Learning) http://d106.k12.il.us/Staff/Kuntz/PAL/PAL.HTML
We just finished reading the novel Julie of the Wolves and are working on our new web site called H.O.W.L. AGAIN! The web site URL is http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Parthenon/9615/index.html and our orginal wolf project called The H.O.W.L Project is located at http://d106.k12.il.us/elem/wolves/Wolves.html
We are excited to be a part of this project.

CA Wolves can only be found in zoos in Texas. In the past, both the Red Wolf and the Mexican Gray Wolf lived in Texas.
TX We surveyed the students at Porter Elementary from Pre-k to 4th grade, and the overwhelming majority (83%) liked wolves.
YT Yes there have been encounters with wolves, generally it has been encounters with livestock or dogs.

4. If you have no wolves in your area, can you visit a zoo or wildlife refuge to see wolves? Is it a popular attraction?
YT Whitehorse is so small and has so much other wildlife that we don't really need zoos or other venues here we can go out with our family and go for walks and see all kinds of wildlife but you usually don't see wolves.
TX We have several zoos in Texas where you may visit Red Wolves, Mexican Gray Wolves, or Maned Wolves. Our closest zoo would be the Houston Zoo, which is about 30 miles away. They have 4 females Mexican Gray Wolves which they hope to breed as part of a Species Survival Program.
YT There have been no major problems with wolves in the last ten years in Whitehorse other than some small things like a few dogs being killed and the odd horse. This happens very rarely so when it does happen there is usually a big reaction by the media and people.
TX No.
