How Fire Came To Earth

by Andrew

When the earth was young, earth had no fire. In the summer, man was content, but in winter, they were cold
The animals asked Weasel, Wolf and Hawk to help.
“Sure,’’ replied Weasel. “We should help the people.’’
Wolf said “I know! I heard fire is up in the mountains.’’
“Then let’s go there,’’ said Hawk.
The three ventured to the mountains for fire. In the mountains, three bears were guarding fire. Weasel grabbed some fire and bolted down the hill. He soon dropped it when it burned his tail. Wolf tried, but his mouth, sides and tail were charred. Hawk tried, but he dropped it into some wood.
The bears smashed the wood to pieces.“I know. We have to coax fire out of wood,” said Weasel. All three went to man and showed them how to make fire by rubbing two pieces of wood together.
Since then, Weasels have black tails, Wolves have black jaws, sides and tails, and hawks have black eye holes.
