The
Northern Tutchone, the local First Nations group, are skilled
fishermen whether they are using a net or a rod, winter or summer.
The First Nations people today still practice the traditional forms
and techniques of their ancestors. Fish camps are like a family
gathering for about four weeks of the year because everyone gets
together to help out. Different families have their own camps along
the river. Many people come out to visit the families who are
camping, and have tea and bannock.
