Fishing

People from all over the world come to fish in the Yukon. They fish here because the fish are great and are pretty big and there are different kinds to catch. It's not as easy as it seems. You must have skill and the right equipment.

For fishing you need fishing rods, a boat (unless your fishing off a bridge or a dock), you need life jackets, a variety of tackle, but most importantly you need patience. You could also use a net but you need to take the time to set it, pull it up and untangle the fish. Usually nets are used for catching salmon.

Around Teslin the Teslin lake is a good place for fishing. You could catch salmon, Whitefish, lake trout and other fish. Some say there are sturgeon in the lake. You should try your luck.

Camping

In Teslin there are many places to camp. You can tent or you can be in a RV. You can RV at Morley Bay. Morley Bay is about 50 km South of Teslin on the Alaska Highway, The cost is approximately $5.00 a day, You can swim, fish, boat, bike, hike and walk, There are many things to do at Morley Bay,

There is also Johnson's Crossing Campground, It is about $20,00 per night and is 51 km out from Teslin, towards Whitehorse. Teslin Lake is nice and beautiful and you can do anything there and it costs $5.00 a night at the campground which is about 10 miles away.

The Yukon Motel is nice because it is just a little ways from the LID docks and that is where you can go swimming. It is just a few kilometers from my school and costs about $15.00 per night to camp.

Dawson Peaks is also another resort to camp at. You can rent cabins there for the night, maybe you can even rent a sauna and the cost is approximately $20.00 a night to sleep at and is about 20 km out from Teslin

Doug Smarch-master guide

Teslin Outfitters is owned by TTC(Teslin Tlinget Council)

Hunting is owned and operated by Tlinget people. For Tlinget people, hunting is a way of life. There have been a few record breaking trophies taken out of the of TOL, such as the 2nd largest caribou in the world, the fourth largest bear in north America and a few more. TOL has the biggest hunting grounds in the Yukon so you have more land to search for that prized trophy that is waiting to be on the hairs of your rifle scope. Some of the animals which are hunted are: Stone sheep, grizzly, mountain caribou, Yukon moose, Black bear, wolf, wolverine, and more. Everybody wants to go hunting with our experienced tour guides; from an ex-sniper to a multi-billionaire, even boxing world Champion Evander Hollyfield went hunting with TOL.

TOL has been in the hands of one family for over three generations, and the last of these generations is Doug Smarch, who is the master guide today.
