Create
a Hyperstudio presentation which has at
least 15 cards. You may use the Countrystk Hyperstudio
template or begin from scratch. In
either case, you are expected to be
creative and add changes such as
background, buttons, transitions
between cards and sound. For an example
look at a student project on Denmark (download)
1.
As partners choose one country from the list provided in the Computer lab and sign
your names next to that country.
2.
Your draft research should include at
least one full typed page of
information on the country including
the location in the world with a world
map showing exactly where your country
is located, language or languages
spoken (try to find some examples of
words in that language and their
meanings in English), capital city,
population, land area in square
kilometres, food (examples of food that
are special to that country if
different from what we eat), religion
(what are some of the main religions of
the country), resources & economy
(what things are produced in the
country to make money), average
temperatures (average temperature in
January, average temperature in July in
Celsius) and a couple of paragraphs
describing the culture of the
country.
There
are lots of links to information
gathered for you but remember to also
get images that will add to your
presentation. A good place to start
looking for free images is at Pics
for
Learning. Once you have your draft research ready
it can be stored in the Computer lab so
you are ready to build your multimedia
report with Hyperstudio.
3.
Look at the Country.STK
Hyperstudio
template to make sure you have everything you
need. Begin building your presentation
with your travel buddy. The cards
should include the
following:
country
map indicating the capital city
an image of the country's flag (look at the AppleWorks library or
Hyperstudio)
land
area (in square kilometres)
population
resources
&
economy (what things are produced in the
country to make money)
languages
spoken & religions (try to find some examples of words in
that language and their meanings in
English) religion (what are some of the
main religions of the
country)
culture (a couple of paragraphs describing what
make the people of this country
different from peoples in other
countries)
food (examples of food that are special to
that country if different from what we
eat)
weather (average temperature in January,
average temperature in July in
Celsius)

Evaluation
- Your
mark will be determined by how well you
worked with a partner to create a
creative and informative presentation.
Please see the Country
Rubric for details on what is expected. Each
item is worth 5 for a possible 100 in
total on the assignment.
-
Conclusion
- When
you finish this project you will have
convinced us to visit your country. You
will also know more about the
geography, climate and people of these
countries not to mention the lessons
learned using Hyperstudio. Now you
might want to take a tour of another
country researched by your classmates.
Happy travelling!
