This study integrates literacy, science, and social studies as follows:
  • use electronic research techniques to construct personal knowledge and meaning: summarize data by picking key words from gathered information and by using jotting, point-form or retelling
  • will explore the characteristics of living organisms and develop observation skills.
  •  will explore the economic concepts related to the study of the farm.
  •  will participate in informal presentations of their ideas, comprehend information, write formally, and read/listen to information.
  • learn what animals are found on farms.
  • learn the differences between farm animals.
  • learn the basic body parts of animals.
  • learn what foods we get from the animals.
  • learn how the food gets from the farm to the store.(food process).
  • expand their vocabulary by reading books related to the farm.
  • learn how technology has changed farm life.
  • learn basic research skills by working independently and in small groups.
  • enhance their listening skills through reading of stories and poetry, and listening to recorded music and animal sounds.
  • integrate text and visual images to create a meaningful message.
  • follow a sequence of steps to preform a task using information technology tools.
  • use information technology tools to organize information.
  • use the Kidspiration program tools to organize their information including their research, a picture and use the voice tool to record their information.
  • use Kid PIX to draw a picture of their animal and import to Kidspiration.
  • record their voice imitating their animal's sound using Kidspiration.
