Introduction
Have you ever heard of the aye-aye? Or the okapi? There are so many fascinating animals in tropical rainforests that millions haven't been named or even identified yet. In fact, about half of all the world's species live in tropical rainforests.

Task
You will create a multimedia presentation using an AppleWorks SlideShow template to show all the things you have learned about your Rainforest animal.

Process
Choose an animal from the Rainforest Sign Up posted in the computer lab. Try to choose a really unusual animal that you would like to know more about and would be interesting to others. If you are not sure what an animal looks like view the pictures I have gathered on Rainforest Animals page.

Write a draft of the information you have found following the assignment sheet handed out in class. Bring this to the lab to begin entering the information on the Rainforest Animal Slideshow.

Take a look at the Rainforest Animals page for pictures.
Some ideas of information to gather: (Remember to check your spelling, punctuation and use complete sentences)
Description: What the animal looks like, size (metric), colours, body covering, special body parts. Describe the animal in detail as if someone has never seen one.
Habitat: Range or location of animal

Diet What the animal eats
Family Life: Offspring (if special name for babies), number of babies born at a time, when born in the year, care of young
Social Behavior:how the animal lives: in groups, alone, etc.
Interesting Facts (something that is really unique about your animal) information that is really special about the animal.

Resources

Encyclopaedias & CD-ROMs, Public Library, School Library, Internet Rainforest Animal Web Sites

Evaluation
Each student is expected to complete a slideshow presentation of their animal including title page, digital pictures of the animal and your photo, several slides of research and a picture done in a drawing program. You are asked to use the Slideshow template provided however it is expected that you modify this to make it individual by changing background, formatting text, fading and other transitions between slides etc. All slideshow will be combined at the end of our unit.
