Our Student's, Staff and Community Welcome you to Watson Lake Secondary School, Watson Lake, Yukon.

Watson Lake Secondary School is a place of opportunity for all, where each and every one of our students has the opportunity to make the very most of his or her talents. We strive to provide excellent academic instruction at all levels of ability, as well as a rich variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities from sports teams to student council. We are also always on the lookout for opportunities outside the school and have sent WLSS students all over the territory and the country for sports activities, leadership conferences and national competitions including Skills Canada. Our goal is for all of our students to find success in a way that is meaningful to their career plan.

A blended approach to education invigorates learning in Watson Lake!

Watson Lake REM 2015, April 27-May 1

Yukon Education is bringing the REM (Rural Experiential Model) to Watson Lake, the Kaska traditional territory of the Liard First Nation. We will be hosting 125 visiting students and educators from Carmacks, Dawson City, Faro, Haines Junction, Mayo, Pelly Crossing, and Ross River. They will join our students and educators for a week of engaging hands-on activities, led by local and Yukon experts. The REM is a unique, experiential approach that enables Grades 10-12 students to pursue their personal learning interests and to connect with their peers in other Yukon communities. REM participants will earn two Fine Art or Applied Skill credits for completing 28 hours of training in intensive daytime sessions and 15 hours of evening learning activities. Visiting students will be staying at Johnson Elementary School, Watson Lake Secondary School, or the Recreation Centre. Please welcome our visitors and ask our youth about their learning during this exciting opportunity! Further details can be found at http://yukonrem.weebly.com

As of August 2014, the challenge was on! To reach one hundred perfect quizzes, worksheets, tests or exams in senior mathematics at Watson Lake Secondary school before the end of the school year.

From Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 10 to Pre-Calculus 12, fifty students enrolled finally reached the milestone when student Emily Anderson hit the mark on Friday March 6th.

Congratulations, WLSS students!
